ABOUT THE CELL

YOUTH RED CROSS YRC: Youth Red Cross (YRC) Society is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of over 700 branches throughout the country. . The seven fundamental principles of YRC are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. All the students are the members of this society. The society focuses to promote life and health through training and education on safety, primary health care and healthy living, to encourage community service through training and education and to promote technical support for the development of youth programmes, fund-raising, identification of material and human resources.

INAUGURATION

Youth Red Cross of Nadar Saraswathi College of Engineering Technology organized an inaugural function on 6th September 2014. The Honourable Chief Guest Mr.R.Ramasamy, Honorary District Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Theni District branch gave An Inaugural Address of Youth Red Cross And Also Delivered a Brief Speech About Youth Red Cross. Dr.Jeyachandran Gave Inspiring Speech about Blood Donation and road Safety to Our Students. Mr.Murugadass, Member Of Youth Red Cross Presented Power Point Presentation about Principles And Service of Youth Red Cross. The Inaugural Function was Effectively Coordinated By Mr.B.Mallaiyasamy AP/Maths, Mr.R.RadhaKrishnan AP/Mech Coordinators Of YRC.

"As a Programme Officer of Youth Red Cross, I Promise to serve, to work loyally for the promotion of Health and the relief of suffering and distress, wherever I may find it and to hold in friendship youth of all Nations".

Mission

  1. To prevent and alleviate suffering with complete impartiality, making no discrimination as to nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs, language, class or political opinions.
  2. To be a leading humanitarian organisation in India, improving the lives of vulnerable people through services delivered and promotion of humanitarian laws.
  3. To promote the Fundamental Principles of the Movement and the International Humanitarian Law in order to inculcate humanitarian ideals among the population, and in particular among children and youth.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To inculcate an awareness especially in relation to the care of their own health and that of others.
  2. To understand and acceptance of civic and human responsibilities.
  3. To cultivation and maintenance of a spirit of service and helpfulness to others.
  4. Promotion and protection of health and life.
  5. Selfless services to the sick and suffering.
  6. Promotion of national and international friendship.
  7. Disaster relief to the victims.
  8. To contribute to the improvement of health, the prevention of disease and maternity and child care in the community.
  9. To educate the population on how to prepare for and respond to disasters.
  10. To promote the Fundamental Principles of the Movement and the International Humanitarian Law in order to inculcate humanitarian ideals among the population, and in particular among children and youth.
  11. To serve the community within its jurisdiction, the state branch may initiate activities to address local needs and priorities as approved by the Managing Body of the branch.

RED RIBBON CLUB

Red Ribbon Club has been formed in the college to create awareness in order to combat HIV & AIDS. The club consisting of a team of youth volunteers those will have commitment to work for increase of knowledge and change of behaviour through awareness building. The club will work in the field of HIV/AIDS awareness starting with peers in the college and gradually spread the message to family and community around it.

AIMS

To make HIV/AIDS free INDIA by creating awareness about the spread and cause of HIV/AIDS among the student youth, non-student youth and public. To prepare youth as peer educators/agents of change both among youth as well as society at large by developing their skills on leadership, advocacy, communication and team building.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Spread the message of AIDS awareness among the peer groups, local communities and family members of the club.
  2. To counsel the students regarding the various health’s issues and gives preventives for their proper health.
  3. Encourage the club members to adopt healthy life style and discuss it with other members of the student community.
  4. Adoption of healthy life style will result in a behaviour change process.
  5. Equipping youth with correct information on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and Supporting.
  6. Selfless services to the sick and suffering
